The advanced stock module supports several types and methods of stock takes which are explained below.
Stock Taking Method (cost and retail)
The method can be set to cost, retail or mixed within the general settings of the advanced stock module, if set to mixed each outlet can then be set accordingly and any related stock take will then use those parameters for recording and displaying stock results.
Cost stock is primarily used for food and non food stock taking, whereby the stock take values the stock at cost value (before VAT).
Retail stock is primarily used for beverage (wet) stock takes, whereby the stock take values the stock at the selling price (including VAT).
Mixed: Allows you to have both methods in use at the same time at different outlets i.e. retail for beverage and cost for food.
Stock take types
There are 3 types of stock takes, once selected and in use you can move from a unit to a outlet and vice versa but you can not carry over the closing stock value into the opening value between the 2 types. Interim stock takes are primarily used as stock checks within the open stock take period.
Unit full stock takes allow you to connect multiple stock takes together that are connected to the same purchaser group, this enables the stock takes to be opened and closed as one ensuring all stock takes have the same opening and closing date. The results and values can be viewed as one within the unit summary and consumption tab of each related stock take.
Outlet full stock takes are connected to one advanced stock outlet and when locked and opened will only open and close that stock take. When viewing the unit summary and consumption tabs it will only display values related to that stock take.
Interim stock takes can be opened when there is a open stock take and regardless if the parent stock take is a unit or outlet full, their main purpose is to perform a stock check within the current stock take, for example if your stock take is monthly you can open and lock a weekly interim stock take within that stock period, or if preforming a weekly stock take a stock check can be done to check current levels with current wastage sales and deliveries on any given day within that stock period.
