If you find the system appears to be running slow it may be worth clearing your cache. This keeps your system updated with the latest information.
Cookies, which are files created by websites you’ve visited, and your browser’s cache, which helps pages load faster, make it easier for you to browse the web. These can, however, affect the running of programs and web pages sometimes, so we would always recommend clearing these once in a while to ensure they are running correctly.
Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies means that some website settings, like usernames and passwords, will be deleted and some sites might appear to be a little slower because all of the images have to be loaded again.
Here is how you clear/remove them in the four main browsers:
Chrome
This is the recommended browser to use for the Access software due to compatibility.
Open Chrome
On your browser toolbar, click More 3 vertical dots
Click on More Tools and then click Clear Browsing Data
In the Clear browsing data box, click the Advanced tab
Click on the Time Range dropdown and select All time
Tick the checkboxes below and then Clear Data
Cookies and other site data
Browsing History
Cached images and files
Cached images and files Hosted app data and Media licenses
Microsoft Edge
Click the Hub icon
Click the History icon
Click the link labelled Clear all History
Check the boxes for each item you want to clear
Click the Clear button
The message All Clear will appear at the top when the data has been erased.
Internet Explorer - IE
This will work with IE 9 and all later versions:
In the upper right corner, click the small gear icon (to the right of the star icon)
Select Internet Options
On the General tab, under Browsing history, click Delete.
Un-check the Preserve Favorites website data box.
Check the Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History boxes.
The Form data, Passwords, and in Private Filtering data boxes may be left unchecked. You can check them to delete this data if you so choose.
Click Delete.
When finished, click OK to return to your Internet Explorer window.
Close the Internet Explorer window and reopen.
Firefox
From the History menu, select Clear Recent History.
If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt to make it visible.
From the Time range to clear drop-down menu, select the desired range; to clear the entire cache, select Everything.
Next to Details, click the down arrow to choose which elements of the history to clear; to clear your entire cache, select All Items.
Click Clear Now
Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.
Safari
This is valid for Safari 9 and later versions:
From the Safari menu, select Clear History and Website Data
Select the desired time range, and then click Clear History.
Go to Safari
Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely.
This is valid for Safari 7 and earlier versions:
From the Safari menu, select Reset Safari
Select the items you want to reset, click Reset. Note: As of Safari 5.1, Remove all website data includes both cookies and cache.
Go to Safari
Select Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely.
Updating and checking your browser version
Whilst you are clearing your cache it may be useful to check that your browser is also up to date. To do this in any of the above browsers
Click on the 3 dot menu at the top right of your browser
Click Help then click About
This will auto check your version and update if required. If your browser is already up to date the About screen will tell you. This is also where you would obtain the browser version number if you need to add this information to your case.
