If you find the system appears to be running slow it may be worth clearing your cache. This keeps your system updated with the latest information.
Cookies, which are files created by websites you’ve visited, and your browser’s cache, which helps pages load faster, make it easier for you to browse the web. These can, however, affect the running of programs and web pages sometimes, so we would always recommend clearing these once in a while to ensure they are running correctly.

Clearing your browser’s cache and cookies means that some website settings, like usernames and passwords, will be deleted and some sites might appear to be a little slower because all of the images have to be loaded again.

Here is how you clear/remove them in the four main browsers:

Chrome

This is the recommended browser to use for the Access software due to compatibility.

  1. Open Chrome

  2. On your browser toolbar, click More 3 vertical dots

  3. Click on More Tools and then click Clear Browsing Data

  4. In the Clear browsing data box, click the Advanced tab

  5. Click on the Time Range dropdown and select All time

  6. Tick the checkboxes below and then Clear Data

  • Cookies and other site data

  • Browsing History

  • Cached images and files

  • Cached images and files Hosted app data and Media licenses

  4. Un-check the Preserve Favorites website data box.

  5. Check the Temporary Internet files, Cookies, and History boxes.

  6. The Form data, Passwords, and in Private Filtering data boxes may be left unchecked. You can check them to delete this data if you so choose.

  7. Click Delete.

  8. When finished, click OK to return to your Internet Explorer window.

  9. Close the Internet Explorer window and reopen.

  1. From the History menu, select Clear Recent History.

  6. Close all browser windows and re-open the browser.

Safari

This is valid for Safari 9 and later versions:

  1. From the Safari menu, select Clear History and Website Data

  2. Select the desired time range, and then click Clear History.

  3. Go to Safari

  4. Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely.

This is valid for Safari 7 and earlier versions:

  1. From the Safari menu, select Reset Safari

  2. Select the items you want to reset, click Reset. Note: As of Safari 5.1, Remove all website data includes both cookies and cache.

  3. Go to Safari

  4. Select Quit Safari or press Command-Q to exit the browser completely.

  5. Back to top.

Updating and checking your browser version

Whilst you are clearing your cache it may be useful to check that your browser is also up to date. To do this in any of the above browsers

  1. Click on the 3 dot menu at the top right of your browser

  2. Click Help then click About

This will auto check your version and update if required. If your browser is already up to date the About screen will tell you. This is also where you would obtain the browser version number if you need to add this information to your case.
