Remove a stock item product

The following article outlines how to discontinue un-needed stock items.

Once a stock item is no longer required it is not possible to delete the stock item, this is because the unique code is needed to generate your reports within the stock module.

To deactivate the product, you can do the following steps:

Re-name

By re-naming the stock items description to add in DO NOT USE, DEAC, DO NOT COUNT, etc., at the start of the description. This displays within the stock take highlighting to the stock taker to not add their closing count to the product, once the product has not been counted for 2 full stock takes it will be auto binned and removed from the stock take.


Un-link the products

It is essential that you un-link the products from the discontinued stock item, as this will remove them from the stock item within your stock take.


Steps to re-name and unlink products

  1. Click the Admin Cogs along the top bar.

  2. Click Products and Categories, then click Stock Item Products.

  3. Locate the stock item products, then click on Edit.

  4. Add your text to the descriptions and click Update.

  5. Click on the Linked Products tab.

  6. Click the Chain Link icon to detach the products.
